2009 looks to be an exciting year, as I have shifted focus from my full-time staff position with the Braves to my own business, Abell Creative. After stints with the Atlanta Braves, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Macon Knights, I felt it was time to pursue other areas of photography that my full-time commitments would not allow. Additionally, my sports action photography takes me to an array of sporting events each year that have included the World Series and the BCS National Championship. In addition to my sports action, I am actively pursuing studio/environmental portraits and architectural photography and would welcome addition work in these areas, as well as representation.

Macon Knights (arenafootball2)

I worked as the director of photography and graphic design for Macon Knights from January of 2002 until they ceased operations at the end of August of 2006. During my time with the Knights, I was responsible for producing a number of award-winning designs that included receiving Media Guide of the Year 4 times and Photo of the Year 2 times, as well as numerous other local ADDY awards.
Photographically, I was responsible for shooting, editing and archiving all of the Knights digital photography in RAW and edited/TIFF format. This included but was not limited to photographing game day and events, practice, marketing portraits, heat shots and group shots.
More specifically, my design responsibilities were largely print based, as I produced such items as advertisements, billboards, brochures & mailers, game programs, media guides, pocket schedules, posters, presentation packages, seasonal logos and ticket packages. Additionally, my responsibilities required me to attain printing quotes, view press runs and maintain relationships with a number of offset printing companies.

I worked as the director of photography and graphic design for SportsTowne from January 2002 until the facility was sold by the Macon Knights ownership in April of 2005. During this time, my work paralleled much of what I did with the Knights. Once the facility was sold, my sole responsibilities shifted towards the work that I did for the Macon Knights.

Imedia offered me many opportunities as a graphic designer. During my tenure there, I had the opportunity to create the award-winning identity for Imedia, as well as the identity of an award-winning magazine, OnOff Campus—a magazine for local area college students. In addition to my creative work with Imedia, I spent a great amount of time learning the offset printing process, as one of Imedia’s divisions was an offset printing company. In December of 2005, I opted to leave Imedia to take a position as the photographer and graphic designer for SportsTowne and the Macon Knights, an arenafootball2 team heading into its second season.

Student Internship
During the summer of 1999, I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the summer internship program with CNN and CNN International graphics. During my internship, I had the opportunity to work on many exciting projects that included the development of logos for CNN International weather. My work was featured on air and the web.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE – ASSIGNMENT
When covering events, I am often times under tight deadlines that require me to edit, caption and transmit photos both during and after the event. Stock photographs are edited, captioned and uploaded in a final edit. All photos are archived in my digital library for future needs.
